Han Shinwoo (Kor. 한신우) is a human and one of the supporting characters of the series. He is a student of Ye Ran High School and the first person to befriend Rai after he wakes up from his 820-year slumber. He is also an incredibly skilled martial artist and Ikhan's best friend.
Appearance
Shinwoo is an energetic and athletic teenager with bright red hair and blue eyes. He is almost always seen with a bandage over the bridge of his nose. He is fit and extremely attractive.
Personality
He is well-known within the city to be skilled in martial arts and is feared by many gangs. He is known to defend those that cannot defend themselves even when he is not strong enough either as shown in his fight with Shark. Shinwoo is often shown sleeping (and drooling) in class and slacking off. Though he is shown as a lazy student, he is also very courageous and would protect his friends at all costs. He often tends to be late for school due to over-sleeping. He enjoys playing video games.
Background
Han Shinwoo is a student in Ye Ran High School who is popular in the locality because of his excellent martial skills. Nothing about his family background is revealed.
Plot Overview
Volume 1
- On the day of Rai's awakening, Shinwoo happens to meet him while rushing on his way to school. He is punished for being late and while running the laps under Pedro's surveillance, he meets the young man (Rai) he ran into previously. He takes Rai to the Chairman and later finds him in the same class as him. Shinwoo is the one who introduces Rai to ramen and gradually becomes close to Rai at school, developing a bond which can be termed as friendship.
- One evening while walking back home with Ikhan and Rai, Shinwoo hears Yuna's scream and saves her from the Infected. After that the children escorts Rai to the Chairman's residence (where they become frequent visitors from then on).
- Shinwoo is targeted by the Infected and stays over at Ikhan's place as per their Principal's advice. Meanwhile Yuna is kidnapped by M-21 and M-24 in the process to smoke Shinwoo out of his hiding. Shinwoo and Ikhan go to rescue Yuna. There they find themselves against the Infected and Shinwoo has to fight him until Rai and Frankenstein arrive to rescue them.
- Eventually he gets involved in many such strange fights against people with extra-ordinary powers. Rai and Frankenstein rescue him and others from trouble almost every time. Later he as well as the others are brainwashed for their own safety and so they remember nothing of the strange happenings.
Volume 2
- Shinwoo and his friends return to their regular life. They know M-21 as the security guard of Ye Ran High (as they have been brainwashed to forget all the strange events of the past). They are soon joined by Im Suyi, their celebrity friend and after class they introduce her to their favorite haunt - Frankenstein's residence.
- Two new students (Seira and Regis) transfer to Shinwoo's class. While returning from school in the evening, Shinwoo saves his new friends from being harassed by local delinquents. He defeats all of his opponents by himself but is stopped by M-21 from overdoing it. M-21 looks at the defeated members of the gang and is seen wondering to himself whether Shinwoo's body remembers the life threatening situation he was in a while back (before he was brainwashed).
- One day, the children are to visit Frankenstein's house. While Ikhan and Suyi have already reached the place, Shinwoo and Yuna are left behind. On their way, Shinwoo and Yuna come across a foreigner being robbed by some local delinquents. Shinwoo confronts the thugs and quickly defeats them. He then returns the wallet to the foreigner, Takeo and apologizes to him on behalf of Korean citizens. Takeo confuses Shinwoo and Yuna for a couple on date, embarrassing them both. The three of them sit in a nearby cafe and enjoy conversation until Yuna receives a message from Suyi and remember that their friends are waiting. They take their leave from Takeo but little do they know that they are already targeted by Shark, a dangerous teammate of Takeo.
- A few days later, while returning from school, the children are attacked and kidnapped by Hammer. They are used as hostage to capture Regis, who has been fighting Shark. They are then taken to DA-5's hideout. All the while, the children have been unconscious. Shinwoo and Ikhan wake up first and the girls also wake up soon after. They also find Regis injured and restrained. Shinwoo notices that the people around there are not ordinary kidnappers and asks who they are and why have they kidnapped them. Finding it annoying, Shark kicks his face into the ground. He is temporarily saved by Regis who wakes up and diverts Shark's attention from him.
- Later, the children find M-21 there and recognize him instantly. Both M-21 and Regis try to deny any connection with the children in order to save them from Shark who has orders to kill any human witness. But their futile attempt fails. Shark is overjoyed and brutally attacks Regis. Shinwoo stands up for Regis and punches Shark in the face. He then gets the full attention and wrath of Shark who continues to beat him down. Unable to tolerate seeing Shinwoo almost beaten to death right before him, M-21 transforms to stop Shark. The children watch as M-21 and Regis fight to protect them until Rai arrives to rescue them all.
- Once the battle is over, the children find themselves in Frankenstein's residence once again. They are faced with the reality that they have witnessed clashes of super-powered beings and none of their friends (Rai, Regis and Seira) nor their Principal is ordinary human. Furthermore, they learn that have undergone this experience once before and their memories have been erased of the knowledge. As the existence of Nobles has to be kept secret, the children will have to undergo brainwash once again. The children retort as they don't want to forget about their saviors but come to an understanding when Rai tells them that they did so not to be remembered but they had wished so.

- Cadis Etrama Di Raizel: Shinwoo is the first person to befriend Rai after he wakes up. When the entire school regards Rai like a celebrity, Shinwoo and his friends treat him normally.
- Seira J. Loyard: It is shown that Shinwoo is starting to have feelings for Seira.

- Woo Ik-Han: Shinwoo and Ikhan are bosom friends despite their polar opposite characteristics. Their dominant common interest is gaming.
- Seo Yuna: He has liked Yuna for a long time and it is disclosed that he confessed to her in past which led to an embarrassing situation. Since then they have been just good friends although Shinwoo still has some feelings for Yuna.
- Im Suyi: Even though Suyi is a celebrity, Shinwoo, like Ikhan and Yuna, has a friendly relation with her.

Shinwoo is an amazing Martial Artist excelling in Taekwondo and Hapkido. He is well-known within the city to be skilled in martial arts and is feared by local gangs. Due to his exceptional skill and stamina, KSA was interested in recruiting him. Dr. Aris also took an unhealthy liking towards him while scouting for an experimental specimen.

Physical Prowess
Shinwoo possesses enhanced strength, speed and durability. He is able to match the powers of M-24's Infected, and since then has been getting stronger. After his fight against D-A 5 member Shark he has gotten stronger as mentioned by M-21 when he easily defeats a group of KSA trainees, making him a sure candidate for a member of KSA. He also managed to beat a group of thug's easily where Dr. Aris became interested in him as an experimental subject.
- Enhanced Strength: Even for normal human parameters, it's been quoted that Shinwoo possesses an incredible amount of strength, which he has displayed during his multiple battles; including those with the Infected. According to An Sangeen, even though he doesn't have big build, he uses his Center of Gravity, Turning force and timing of his hits work in a synergy to make the attacks stronger.
- Enhanced Speed & Agility: It's been noted that one of Shinwoo's most incredible attributes is his speed, shown as he instantly disappeared when he went to aid Yuna right after she yelled for help. Mostly when fighting, Shinwoo uses his speed to dodge all the attacks while hitting the opponent at the same time. Alongside his speed, his agility and reflexes have increased during the progression of the series; to the point he was able to dodge one of Shark's attacks and counterattack at the same time.
- Outstanding Durability: Shinwoo's most incredible strength relies in his durability, since he is able to endure attacks that would normally kill a human being; as shown when he took a beating from Shark and was even able to stand up against him one more time right after he threatened to kill his friends.
Martial Arts
Shinwoo has shown to have a lot of methods for fighting. He is usually shown to use a range of punches and kicks to defeat his opponent, but against the Infected, when he found out the simple attacks won't work, he started attacking the vitals slowly and steadily and making the body immobile. Even the infected who didn't feel any pain was starting to slow and stagger.
