Mari reports to Dr. Crombel that the people who stole the casket were mere smugglers and the one who she was sent to capture is not one of them. Disappointed in Mari's failure to bring that guy, Dr. Crombel ascertains from her that the older experiments, M-21 and M-24, are present in the locality.
After she is dismissed, Jake finds her and informs her about what he has learned from the Infected: M-21 and M-24 had lured out the kids whom they referred to as unascertained witnesses.
The kids, however, ignorant of these events, are bored staying at home rather than going to school. So, they take their usual trip to the Principal's home.
